Showed up on local CL. Looks like some sort of Japanese beginner guitar. Any ideas?

now that I look at it more, I'm pretty sure I had one of these...no idea what it was ( a pal gave it to me)

wretched thing, though.
couldn't keep it in tune to save baby jeebus
 
Some of those old Japanese guitars are killer. . . I've got a dandy made by the Tokyo Guitar Co. A lot of them were imported under the Kent, Guyatone, or Teisco names. It looks like it's in great shape, for $70 it'd be at least giving it a play if you're interested. :shrug:
 
that's a good point, go give it a shot.
just cuz mine was crap, doesn't mean this one is.

after all, I got a kickass Gibson, so anything's possible, right?

if it ain't too far, go give it a go.
yeah, chances are, you'll just waste time & gas.
but you never know.

stop and take photos along the way, then it's not a totally wasted trip
 
The headstock looks like the old Japanese Harmony electrics, but with Japanese cheapies, you can't really tell from the headstock. Kawai is another guess.
