Any Love for the 'Pointy' Guitars?

During the mid to late 1950s Gibson introduced some iconic guitars; the Flying V, Explorer, Moderne, all post prototype Futura.
I played Strats exclusively for 20 years (1981-2001) but slowly got back into the Gibson type solid bodies that I preferred previously in my teen years; Flying V, SG, etc.
Most of my playing the past ~20 years has been carved top Les Paul types but I do have some 'pointy' examples, which I rarely play.

Well, this afternoon I took out the Korina V, the mahogany Futura, and the mango Explorer; what a hoot playing these three after having them in hibernation for so long.

These examples offer me something of a middle ground tonal response between a Fender & a Gibson, likely because they don't have the carved top of the typical Les Paul (Standard or Custom).

So, who here has the 'pointy' guitar bug, how often do you play them, and where do they land in your guitar preference arsenal?

played in a sitting position the Explorer is (for me) the most comfortable of the three examples I have.

The single piece mango lumber body is just the icing on the cake though & the mango lumber has it's own sonic signature.

Generally not a fan. My only pointy guitar is the one I got from Mike Score of A Flock of Seagulls. I love it for what it is and for it's history, but it's an ergonomic clusterfuck.

I don't have any anymore, but I've owned and loved quite a number of extremely pointy jacksons and bc rich's over the years.

I’ve never owned any. I don’t play anything that would be appropriate. I don’t have anything against, but I love them more when there at someone else’s house.

when I was 15 years old (1976) I saw an ad in our local news paper for an Ibanez Flying V; it was a copy of a 1967 Gibson V, cherry red, white pick guard; it looked just like a '67 Gibson V, and it was all mahogany.
I went over to the seller's house (yes, folks used to do that back then/I know that's crazy), played the guitar, and gave him the $150 asking price. Didn't even try to haggle with him. It was actually a very impressive guitar & compared very favorably to a friends '67 V.
I played the Ibanez V a couple of years & eventually sold it for $300 to some kid in high school that kept begging me to sell it to him.
Those were the days ............

I dig Explorers and Flying V’s, but I would feel self-conscious and silly playing one.

The only other pointy guitars I like are a few classic BC Rich guitars - Mockingbird, Eagle and Bich. I’ve had a soft spot for those since I was a teenager in the late-1970s and early 1980s. Unlike DFB, I would want the versions with all the knobs and switches. The moar the merrier.

Same here, except I like the natural Korina finishes better than painted ones,

and I would add BC Rich Mockingbird in the Natural Hippie Sandwich.

The neck on the one I bought would cripple Jay... or at least feel like he's playing strings on a telephone pole.

I always liked the look of the Moderne. The only guy I've ever seen play one is Billy G., and even that was a replica.
