If you have a smart TV, you don't need the box anymore, just a modem with wifi. Mine has a web browser on it too. Real pain in the ass to type anything but, good for Facebook if you don't reply, just like stuff.

I have Verizon. It's the best reliable service here in central Illinois. Almost always have a signal where I work. Where I live, I usually can get a signal if I stand at the north west corner of the island in the kitchen. Sounds bad but it's leaps and bounds better than any of the others. My phone, it's strictly a cell phone, no data, I have texting but, it's blocked cuz I'm old and I don't want it, is $50 a month. Wife, and 2 sons have a phone on the same plan for $10 more for each phone. Talk and text is unlimited.
If I was single, I'd look in to Straight Talk from Walmart. They use the same towers as Verizon. Price sounds good. Usually there is a catch, never looked into it because of the family plan I have with Verizon.

That's why phones have GPSes in them.
StraightTalk. My wife and 2 daughters use it, and we couldn't be happier (one daughter and I have company phones).
$45/month. No bullshit. No "just because" fees. They do cap your fast data to 2GB per month. After you hit that, you drop back to dialup speed.
You can use AT&T (GSM) or Verizon (CDMA)* as your carrier. StraightTalk has both available.
* While iPhones since the 4S (I think...) have both GSM and CDMA radios and antennas, Verizon will not allow a phone on their network that they did not sell. So the net result is that if you want Verizon, you have to have a phone that was sold by Verizon.
AT&T doesn't care. You can buy any iPhone, stick an AT&T SIM card in it and register it with StraightTalk.
That said, their customer service is horrible once you get outside the area of just getting a phone number ported. But then again, from what I hear AT&T and Verizon are terrible too.

Verizon no longer gives you a free phone. Daughter, we need to her her own before fall, borrowed and, lost my wife's phone. Called Verizon, stopped the number till I could get in to pick up another, asked if it had been two years since our plan changed so the phone would be free? Yes. I get there, had to pay.
Yes, it is. In fact, E911 is the reason GPSes were added to cell phones.
