Hot or Not? Adorama strikes again.... here it is, I got the Vintera 50s Strat for almost a half off

Cool! A part of me wants all the colors of guitars, like a huge Crayola box worth. I like that, and I agree, the second pic looks better.

My Hofner actually has some pearlescent dots painted onto it (the German reissues of the time didn't have any side dots at all). They work pretty well and haven't come off in 15 years of owning / playing it heavily but it was like that when I got it so I'm not sure what kind of paint it is...
