everyone submits a song to be covered.
you should be able to find the songs easily, say via youtube or whatnot.
then, a random draw is done to assign songs to participants.

so you could easily get stuck having to record a cover of a song you'd never heard before.
could lead to some interesting interpretations, maybe.

That sounds like fun to me.

I have one song picked out for this time, and figured out how to play it (again) yesterday. I used to play it back in college, but haven't since.
 
yeah, I think it could be pretty cool.

I mean, sure, you could get stuck with a song you don't care for, but then maybe you could change it up enough that you might like it a bit more.

plus, you might end up finding out about a band/artist that you never knew about.


in regards to this round, I had a GREAT idea for a tune when I got outta bed, didn't write it down immediately, and now it's gone. :(
I swear, if my wallet didn't contain my name in print, I would forget who I am.
 
I like hte secret Santa approach. I would suck at it but it sounds fun to try.

for this one, I have a song picked. Sometimes I pick a song and try to record it and cant get it to sound good at all so I have to find a new song quick. But I do have a song. If it goes well, I have another I want to try.

I like that - as long as the tunes submitted for that are not super complex. I'd be up for it. And then do another of my choosing.....

that said, though, I'd just whack it down to a basic chord progression and wreck it from there.:grin:

Yeah I mentioned a Secret Santa idea a couple of months ago, where we (At least those who promise to cover a song) would all mention what types of music we would NOT cover under any circumstance and what our strongpoints are. And then another participant would get your name in a random drawing, that person recommends a couple of songs, and you HAVE to do one of those as a request.

It would be logistically difficult with lots-o'-PM's and so, but definitely interesting.
 
Alright...I've got one song done, unless I can teach Mrs. P the bass line and get that recorded in the next week.

I've got another song done except for lead vocals, which, if the electricity doesn't go out this evening due to the storms, I plan to record tonight.
 
I'm actually not doing one this time. :eek:

I started a couple but don't think they're quite there yet and I need some down time. The one I told Prages about will make an appearance eventually though! :grin:
 
Once I get the drums from Dexter that song will be done pretty quick.

I'm trying to pick a simple 'just guitar' track to work on first though. I'm glad the thread got bumped though - I almost forgot the due date is one week away...

Dave, you should have the drum track by weekend time. I should have time to do it either Thursday or Friday at the latest. :)

Other than that, I really don't know if I'll have time to do an entry on my own this time. :embarrassed:
 
I have nothing. Nothing at all - I'll record into my cassete recorder and mail the cassette to Mark.
 
Snuck up on me a little bit too but I am just doing acoustic and vocal so it shouldnt be too bad. Well, as long as I get some time Friday to do it.
 
Doin mine tonight. Though it's sorta Halloween themed so I might post it Sunday.
 
I recorded two acoustic tracks for song #1 last night, though I may rerecord one of the tracks. It ended up a bit boomy so I thing the mic was too close to the sound hole. I can EQ the boom down a bit but I may just rerecord that track tonight and then start on the vocals. It took awhile to try and find a song that I think fits my voice and this one I think should do the trick...

The second song I'll record this weekend.
