Bands are only worth talking about when you focus on the work they're really known for. I couldn't give a care what Radiohead, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, etc has done in the last 20 years. It's not what they're known for. Everyone has to make a living, even after your muse has left.

Kid A and Amnesiac both came out in the last 20 years. And it's not like they sold better than Hail to the Thief or In Rainbows. If they did, it is only because of time and not how popular they were in 2001. Both latter albums sold in the millions in their first year. Meaning they were doing better than the Cure or My Bloody Valentine ever did at their peak.

There's three problems with your new favorite hot take. One, it shields older artists from criticism arbitrarily by condescendingly ignoring their output. Two, it is based on a dodgy understanding of relevance based on only hazy memory. Three, if you don't listen to something you can't really know if it has merit or what about it is worth talking about.

Bones, you ignorant slut - first of all, yes Kid A and Amnesiac were released 18 and 19 years ago. But when I typed in 20 years I didn't really think someone was anal enough to point out how those two went over by a year or two when it was an unscientific statement to begin with.

2nd- who gives a rat's ass what sold more? I was talking about artistic merit not sales numbers. The Foo Fighters have had great selling albums and they have always sucked. By that measure this forum should only be talking about Beyonce. Do you even think when you type out statements like that?

"doing better" really? Is that your scientific artistic standard? doing better. Wow, amazing. It's like a brilliant drunken pub argument by a hobo.
