A good bass method book/DVD ??

I'm trying to help my youngest son learn to play bass and I'm wondering if any has used a good bass method book or DVD that they can recommend? I'm actually a decently good bass player, but my technique is all screwed up and I want him to learn correctly (not from a guitar player who plays bass). I will probably spring for some lessons once he shows that he will practice regularly, but I need something to start on at home.

One of our teachers here in the studio has a book that he's written that we use as our house method but its not published...I'd have to get one from him for you.

Another popular bass method with my instructors is the Alfred Bass book...I've been tempted to write a "Foundations for Bass" once my schedule slows down....

Not to tell you what to do.... but... if the book is any good, you should integrate some bass lessons into MWGL and help the guy get the book published. For a fee, of course. :)

If you are handing out materials in the meantime, however, I would love to see some of those lessons. I've just recently picked up bass, and I need some serious "this is how you do basic stuff" knowledge.

With this particular instructor we're better off with him handling his own business, if you know what I mean.

I am seriously considering adding a Bass Guitar section to the lesson site, and I have a couple of local instructors I probably could get to add advanced content and I can do all of the basic lessons myself. just one more project smi

That would be really cool IF you had time. I have performed on bass on several occasions, but I try not to sing at the same time since I need to look at the neck more on the bass. Bass is a lot of fun to play.....

I probably will later on. Once we get settled into the house I need to get my recordings for the guitar book and some other stuff done. I just buried right now...
