Kay Vanguard Red Burst 1966
Summary
Body: Maple veneer on top and back, basswood body
Neck: Maple neck with a soft "V" profile, 1 11/16" wide nut, rosewood fretboard, 12" radius, and dot inlays
Neck Thickness: .87" at the 1st fret, .97" at the 12th fret
Pickups/Hardware: Kluson tuners, original pickups (rated at 4.7 kOhms in the neck and 5.1 k in the bridge), three-way pickup selector switch, independent volume and tone controls
Cosmetic Condition: There are chips, dings, and scratches throughout the top with some screw holes from removed hardware. The sides have finish chips and dings, and the back has some chipping and buckle rash. The neck has some texture but plays well, and the headstock has chips and dings all around. This Vanguard is good to go!
Playability: The guitar plays well with low action. The frets are tall with very light play wear.
Modifications/Repairs: The guitar has been refretted. A Callaham three saddle tele bridge has been installed and string-through holes have been drilled through the body with string ferrules on the back. The nut has been replaced. The rear strap button has been replaced. A piece of copper shielding tape has been added under the pickguard.
