Description: This Artstar As-80 is Ibanez’s take on a Gibson Es-335. It came out of the Samick Korea factory in 1996. It is a set neck with 22 frets on a bound rosewood fret board. It has a nicely textured yellow finish with black lined yellowish binding around the body. The two humbucker pickups sound great, a lot of weight and grit to the tone of the guitar. The headstock is also bound and features the “Ibanez Artstar” logo. Nud width is 1 11/16th” and the neck scale is 24 3/4″. All in all this is a fantastic alternative to the other 335-style guitars out there and is an awesome bargain. Does not include case.

Sure, I'd give that a go. I'd bet an ibanez copy of a 335 is probably a decent, cheap guitar. I'd be even more interested if they made a higher end model with super 58 pickups, maybe out of one of their prestige/J Craft producing factories. Not as blinged up and pricey as JS signature, but similar quality.

YES! Serious bang for the buck.

There was one not too long ago making the rounds at the Chicago-area GCs for about $250, and I was thisclose to taking it home, but chickened out. :(
 
I bet it is very nice. I'd check it out if I wanted a 335 type. Finish looks bland compared to all the candy you see on the internet, but I bet if a guy brought that home, he would like it very much!
 
Those are great guitars. I had the successor to this guitar, the AS-120 Artstar, and it was a nice instrument. I bet this guitar has Super 58 pickups like my AS-120 had. If it weren't for the fact that I'm all 335ed out (which is why I sold my AS-120), I'd buy it.
 
It's still available :( - I passed, as they want $65 to ship via UPS ground. I called BS and gave them the example of having just shipped a LP Studio double-boxed and padded, with $700 of insurance for $40 bucks from here to Texas...
 
That's pretty hot. I'd prefer a different finish, though. And I'm pretty skeptical of the sound and feel at that price. But I'd like to be pleasantly surprised.
