Probably my favorite Gibson from the Norlin era. Seem to have gotten a lot more expensive, as of late.

I find that strangely likeable in a Forrest Gump sort of way.....yes, dammit, maybe not the centre of the sun hot, but definitely a good warm Mediterranean day hot:thu:

I've never tried one but they have a certain strange appeal.

Put me in the "certain strange appeal" camp. I'd never spend the money for one, but I'm always intrigued by the RD, probably due to nostalgia. I played an RD bass back in 1979 or so in the local guitar store where I was taking lessons. I don't remember much about it other than it was nicer than the bass I had and it was REALLY heavy.

A friend of mine has one of those. I've never tried it, but I dig the look. It sounds great when he plays it.

Not hot. One of the ugliest Gibsons from what was probably their worst era of guitar making. Of course, there are great examples from that time frame, but the guitar is so ugly I wouldn't even care to find out if this was one of the great ones.
