Peavey T-60, The Standard for the '70's and '80's! 1980 Natural

Like its four-string counterpart, the T-40, the mighty T-60 set the standard for rock guitar in the '70s and early '80s. With its thin, lightning-fast neck (.756" at the 1st fret and .807" at the 12th fret in this case,) it was the shredder's shredder before there were those great '80s shredders. It's a solid workhorse that has a long history of providing proven performances, time after time and with this particular guitar, it's not a backbreaker at 9 lbs, 2 oz.

I played in a band with a guy with one of these in the mid 1990's. It weighed as much as a Les Paul standard. It was a pretty good guitar in terms of playability, but I remember the pickups on his being the weak point. I'm sure someone will grab this for nostalgia sake, as they made and sold a ton of these and I know more than a few people that had these as their first "real" guitar.

I really wanted to pick one up when they were going for $3-400. But the price was a big part of the appeal.

I like it.
Maybe also because it looks cool, but no doubt in large part due to Chuck Sculdiner having one in his teens.

Its cool in a 70s Hee Haw leisure suit, "longish" hair and sideburns kinda way.

Perfect description!

I once had a notion that I wanted one because I'd seen Jerry Reed play 'em, but almost immediately reconciled myself to the reality that I wasn't going to buy Jerry talent, and should just work harder with the guitars I already had.

I love the old T-60s, used to own a couple. Lots of tonal variety, but they make a Les Paul look lightweight, and in the end the neck was too thin for me. Looks like this one is light for a T-60.

I know of a store that has one NOS here, still has plastic on the guard which blew my mind since I has papally never even seen a Peavey guitar in a German store.

I don't even want to pick one up these days because I remember them being boat anchors. They have their fans though, they don't need me.

IDK...I think these things are like midlife crisis guitars where people remember them fondly as that first decent guitar they or their friends got when they were young and not the boat anchor that they couldn't wait to dump and move on from, which they were for anyone I knew who had one.

Didn't they have a weird feature where when you turned down the tone knob below 7 a coil-tap came on, or something? Or am I imagining that?
