MATTSONIA

When I designed the Mattsonia with Jarred Mattson, we wanted strongly to produce something that looked familiar whilst still being completely unique in sound and aesthetic-look. I feel we achieved that in our final design.

We have gotten much praise for this shape and it is now becoming a favorite model amongst the community.

This particular guitar features a four-piece Skateboard top. The actual bulk of the body is a lightweight one-piece African Mahogany. The McNelly branded Charlie Christian pickup used is in my opinion my new favorite pickup McNelly produces. Crisp clean tones with deep bass sounds when combined are perfect for many styles of playing.

I've always thought those were pretty cool, but I've also always thought that they must lack resonance - I didn't realize the bodies weren't entirely made of skateboard decks. also definitely wouldn't pay that much.

Yeah, I wish Howie hadn't reminded me about these. $380 for the one with the single bridge pickup is really tempting me.
