Description: This all original circa 1965 Mosrite Mark XII twelve string guitar with Mosrite Mosely vibrola is fairly unusual. The vibrola has two screws at the bass. The carved top double cutaway alder body is finished in a deep Pacific Blue color. The two piece maple single bound neck is a 25" scale with 22 frets excluding the zero fret, a rosewood fingerboard and fifteen tiny dot inlays. Width at the nut is 1 11/16". The bolt on neck is unbound at the end of the fretboard. There are two single coil black Mosrite of Califorinia embossed pickups with black mounting rings.The input jack, toggle switch, and two hat volume and tone knobs are all top mounted on the creme colored pickguard. Other features include 6x6 Kluson deluxe tuners, a Mosrite roller style fixed bridge, small speed frets. The serial number is imprinted on the fretboard. The vibrola bar is slightly bent and there are many knicks of various sizes on the finish, especially along the lower rim of the Mosrite. The overall length of the guitar is 40 1/2" and it weighs 8 pounds. The action is low and the pickups offer that jangly vibe. We have decided to rate this guitar as "very good" since it is all original and in good working condition although cosmetically it is a bit challenged. Comes with a new Gator hardshell case.

:mad: Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike the shenanigans sellers pull when describing the condition of their goods? "Mint condition for its age." "Brand new condition." "Excellent (except for the huge crack I'm pretending not to notice)."

Ever played a guitar with a zero fret?

I have a friend that had an old Ibby acoustic with a zero-fret.

The feel of the guitar was so different as to make it unplayable in my hands. And that zero fret was directly against the nut.

If you look at the space between the the zero fret and the nut on this guitar, that space will really screw with you, and how the guitar feels.

I do not want it, no I don't.

the zero fret is actually there for tone consistency and to make the guitar easier to play. that we're all used to instruments that eliminated the zero fret as a cost cutting measure is the real screw up.
 
I'd string it as a 6-string take advantage of the wide neck and use it as a slide geetar.

Ummmm........maybe. The price is pretty decent for a vintage Moserite (they usually go for quite a bit more than that), but I don't know if I'd really want an electric 12-string. Also, I've read that Moserites have very thin necks - I don't like very thin necks.
