I'm still not sure why they went full on strat clone when they could have just brought back the EG for this. Not that those are completely different from a strat, but they are more PRS like.

I guess outside of the John Mayer super fans, there's probably an intersection of people who dig strats but also like PRS as a mfg way more than Fender...our resident palm sander enthusiast might fall into that demographic.

I meant use the EG as the base for the Mayer.

It’s alright. I’d prefer a different color, and birds look better on rosewood IMO.
Not the PRS I’d buy. I’m more of a McCarty/light flame kinda guy.

Not sure how making another strat clone, when there are already tons out there, is waving a middle finger, but ok. I'm sure Fender is doing just fine on sales with these entering the market.

I can't stand the inlays and the headstock is off for me, it 's not the same as other PRS headstocks which is fine but I think it needs to be reversed maybe.

Ah, it's not really my thing. It's basically just another blue chip Strat clone.

I still have no issue w/ PRS doing their take on a Strat.

Every acoustic making of every level of production makes at least a Dread and a 000 that they copped from Martin, so why is it a big deal if most electric manufacturers and luthiers do a traditional Strat-style? I say let them all take a shot and I'll buy the best one I find at a whatever price point I'm willing spend/able to afford. Same for any other style guitar I might want.

I'm a PRS fan, so that could be part of my willingness to go along w/ Paul's whims. The Strat was one of the foundations upon which the traditional PRS design was based, both in form/function AND tonal palette. They did their spin on a LP, so why not the Strat (even if it is more blatant)?

That said, I wouldn't spend this much money on an electric...and not this electric if I did.
