Gretsch 6186 Clipper 1960

This is a fantastic example of a gretsch clipper! This guitar plays and sounds great, I actually really love this guitar but unfortunately I need a bigsby and would hate to modify such an original example. The only major flaw is it's missing about 2 inches of binding near the back strap button. Really cool that it still has it's hang tag and ok card....

I like it! But if you say in the copy the guitar is missing two inches of binding.....have a picture illustrating that.

It would look great in my living room, but I'd have no real practical use for it. I'll take the 1250 and buy another Strat instead. Because everyone needs just one more Strat.

Very nice! Clippers are fun guitars to play! I just wonder if it isn't a bit overpriced, due to the fact that it's suffering from binding rot, which means the binding needs to be replaced (which can be an expensive proposition). IIRC, 1960 is the first year that Clippers had HiLoTron pickups installed in them.

never heard anyone say they "need" a bigsby
A lot of the rockabilly nuts figure a guitar isn't complete (especially if it's a Gretsch or a Gibson hollowbody), if it doesn't have Bigsby, for doing wiggle stuck things.

I don't think I've ever seen a Gretsch with so few knobs, switches, levers and doohickeys on it.

I like it but,

I still prefer a 6120. I am still bummed that I never bought 1 of the 2 used ones that came across my path so far. I just could not justify its need and now I don't have that I am broke, I still can't justify the need.
