I was thinking the same thing. The headstock bothers me as well. Good thing no one is making me buy it

The headstock is all wrong (besides being fugly). Look at how the strings almost overlap at the keys

That headstock is horrendous, and, once again, an example of a small issue completely ruining an otherwise gorgeous guitar.

Meh. I'm not a big SG fan and I think I might like this one less than a more traditional SG.

To be clear, I don't think it's a bad guitar, just not my style at all.

Not my bare foot, but I will take credit for the fugly headstock.

I do have a straight string pull headstock available but everyone that orders a guitar wants the "Gumby".
The next guitar I'm building for myself will feature the new headstock shape.

And in my defense the chambering did relieve the body of weight and add air to it. The girth and fullness was already there though...I swear.
It has a LP body thickness and weight.
I'm really tempted to buy it and route it for another pickup in the neck position.

Gotta love that write up though.
Feel free to have at it. I have thick skin and don't take it too seriously. Peace.

A Redwood carvetop...


A carvetop of quilted maple over African mahogany....



All three of these guitars were custom orders for same customer who wanted an SG vibe but with symmetrical sized horns, thicker body and deep long tenon neck joint. The Redwood remains his go-to for slide work. It featured Spanish Cedar on the bass side and African Mahogany on the treble side of the body with an African Mahogany neck and ebony board. Rio Grande mini hums with a "Fatty Wind".

Sure, why the hell not. Been sanding most of the day and that gets boring fast.

I just finished these two and shipped them out on Tuesday.
Redwood German Carve Sisters (you decide which is the pretty one)
The redwood tops were cut from the same billet, the mahogany bodies and neck from the same blanks as well. These are going to two friends(coworkers) in Tennessee.

This one is currently on the workbench getting drilled for controls and bridgewhile listening to Sabbath...







These are all made by me in my small shop and finished using hand applied oils/varnish one coat at a time. For more examples of my work please check out the Rebel Guitars site.
