Beard "Gods and Generals"

Extremely rare and unique. 1 of 3 ever built. Hand painted by Rick Parks of Couer d' Alene, Idaho with "God and Generals" Civil War scene. 24kt gold resonator cover with additional art. Four piece bookmatched vintage black "crotch" walnut back and sides, curley maple binding, sitka spruce top.

I don't know......

I ought to hate it, but I don't.

At the same time, I do kind of wonder what inspired this.
It's odd, to say the least.

Looks very well made, just........odd.

Probably not for me.

The painting of Chamberlain and Jackson is actually really good. A nice collectors piece for a guitar playing Civil War buff. Aside from that it really has no use.

Like Coralkong, I should hate it, but somehow I don't. I guess I can look past the theme of the guitar and see something good in the construction. Spending most of my life on the West Coast, I don't really have the same strong feelings about the Civil War as do some of the folks where I live now. For that reason, the overall theme does nothing for me.

One time, I saw a guy at one of the main lodges in Shenandoah National Park who was playing folk music.
My buddy and I sat around (we were camping) and drank those moonshine drinks they serve and beers.

The guy played a lot of ethnic (Irish/Scottish/English) and early American tunes that were popular around that time.....(Civil War era).

This guitar would be PERFECT for that guy.

"That guy" being the key phrase here.....

Except a resonator guitar is not "period correct."

Beard makes great resos, but I really don't want pictures of Generals Stonewall Jackson (CSA), and George McClellan (USA) on my resos. Pass!

I grew up surrounded by Civil War history and thought I had seen most of the idiotic ways it's marketed. This is new.
