    NGD - Wildkat

Doesn't surprise me. I believe Gibson has been going for the "weight relieved" crowd with their chambered LP's while the Wildkat appears designed to be a fast automated build, maintaining as much of the Gretsch semi-hollow vibe as possible. Much faster to have a CNC machine route a slab of...

    NGD - Wildkat

I believe they are technically "chambered" solids. The body looks like it starts with a solid slab of mahogany they route out, then cap the top. Heavier than a hollow or semi-hollow, but lighter than a Les Paul. Nice middle-ground IMHO.

    NGD - Wildkat

Mmm, boobies.... No love for Bigsby's 'round these parts? That's one of the reasons I went for it. I have a strat and a floyd and wanted to give a Bigsby a whirl. I quite like it. Stays in tune really well. It doesn't have the range of my strat or floyd, but that's preferable for a tenor which...

    NGD - Wildkat

Snagged an Epi Wildkat at GC the other day for $299. First Epi I've owned. Tons of guitar for the coin. Alnico V P90's, Bigsby, Grover 18:1 machines. I love the master volume. I bought it to convert to a tenor, so it won't be like this for long, but I'm quite enjoying it for what it is.

I just don't understand how guitars and amps get stolen at NAMM

I've been going off and on since 04 and they've really stepped up the security over the years. I would find it tough to sneak something out of there given all the door and bag checks. Even the vendors need a form filled out if they want to take a guitar out at night and I've never seen them make...

Check out this Gibson tenor guitar

Very nice score. I just snagged a minty old Harmony tenor and was asking around about strings. Here's a thread on Mandolin Cafe that may be helpful: http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/showthread.php?113003-New-Harmony-Tenor-Day-string-question Enjoy - they have a very sweet tone and are fun to...

So after some reflection about the NAMM show...

Thanks for the report Mark. I didn't go this year and it doesn't look like I missed much. The Digitech Trio pedal does look promising tho...

    Take me to hollowbody school

Hagstrom's are very well build instruments. My cork-sniffing luthier was very impressed with the build. The reissues [originals were made in Sweden IIRC] are MIC in Hagstrom's own factory so they are not jobbed out and there is a great amount of attention to detail. I find the necks on all...

    Take me to hollowbody school

A hollow and semi-hollow are almost completely different animals IMHO. A fully hollow body will feedback at higher volumes, which will cause problems if you play with any gain. A semi-hollow should give you "controllable" feedback. By how I hold mine I can use my picking arm almost like a...

FENDER MIJ 27-5400 E SERIES CUSTOM MID 80's GOLD LEAF SPARKLE

The E series necks are killer. I used one as the basis of my strat. Those bodies are smaller than standard size, which can be a plus for some.

    NGD The Loar-Ax

I've toyed with the idea of doing a floater but have resisted so far. I have a lot of electrified instruments and am enjoying this one as a pure acoustic ATM.

    NGD The Loar-Ax

Very nice. I have a LH-300 I really dig. They make nice instruments and they're affordable so you can actually play one.

Dig it! Kewlest piece of kit yet

Went to my local used computer shop and got a mini-din to rs-232 to connect the device to my computer. Didn't work - as I suspected - as it probably needs to be rewired. But I did discover that the MIDI in/out cables work as a serial computer connection, so I'm up and running. The software is...

Dig it! Kewlest piece of kit yet

Me either. Then on Friday 2 showed up on my local CL so I jumped on one. I've been looking for something that would let me run MIDI drums for backing tracks with MIDI out as a master sync to other devices, like a looper. I was quite disappointed my Nexus 7 doesn't do MIDI I/O otherwise that...
