I don't mean to sound like a jerk and there's probably something my ignorant ass doesn't understand, but isn't a Fuzz Face clone without transistors kind of like a car without an engine?

I get that a lot of fuzz experts have very specific "wants" here but maybe include a sampling of different transistors with suggestions?
