Best concert movies?

Nearly flawless:

It's spectacular. Really, if you're only going to own one Stones DVD then that's it, and I'm including Gimme Shelter in that assessment.

Jeff Beck has put out 2 shows that are amazing. The most recent, I think, was the Rock n Roll Les Paul gig and the other was on Palladia a lot, with the hot bassist with the boob. I love watching that guy play.

Concert For George

Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones at The Checkerboard Lounge

Brian Setzer- It's Gonna Rock Cuz That's What I do. Or any Setzer.

can you find us a clip?

I'll look on Youtube. I'm in the opening credits when the show the folks coming through the turn-styles entering the venue. Then again during Never Enough IIRC. We were in the fourth row on the left of the stage in front of Porl Thompson.

that's pretty cool, actually
despite the bad hair-do

but we've all had those, I imagine.

Despite being a huge fan of The Cure, I had never watched that video until recently. It was filmed in 1992 on the Wish Tour. I was shocked to see myself.

only vids I've been in were either of one of my bands, or some other act we were gigging with...
I don't get the chance to go to many bigger (arena-type) shows

I agree!!!!! :thu:

I'll add this:

This was the time period of my awareness of Pete's music. The demand for tickets was so high that they added rows of seats on the stage behind Pete; he often turns around to sing to those folks as well. This is Seeger at his best. (He had just won his court case against HUAC and was free to travel for the first time in years.)

Opeth - Damnation & Deliverance at the Shepherds Bush Empire.
Opeth - Live at the Roundhouse
Opeth - Royal Albert Hall.
Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense
Dio - Holy Diver Live
B52's - With The Wild Crowd

I know that's a lot of Opeth :embarrassed:..but just shows what a fantastic live band they can be.

I personally think they aren't quite as tight as they should've been on that Live At The Roundhouse one. The Royal Albert Hall one is fantastic, sound-wise, though the point of view changes way too fast during the Blackwater Park section for my liking. It settles down a bit during the second half.

Love 'em or hat 'em, the Dream Theater - Live At Budokan is a great piece of concertology. My local best buy was using it for a while to show off their HD TV's, the color and sound is that rich on it. I asked the manager if he or somebody that worked there was a Dream Theater fan to be using it, and he said no, but that it showed off the HD TV's to great effect and the performance was impeccable, so they decided to use it :)

As someone else stated, the Porcupine Tree dvd/blu-ray's are fantastic as well, both Arriving Somewhere... & Live In Tillburg.

Rush In Rio gets a nod from me as well, cinematography was pretty good, and 50,000 screaming, rabid Rush fans make it something special.

Blind Guardian - Imaginations Through The Looking Glass gets a nod from me as well. The show was a festival put on by Blind Guardian (2 nights) and they had a limited amount of camera angles, but it's a great look at a BG show, complete with rabid fans. And it shows you how tight Blind Guardian is live. I've seen them twice in concert, and they have to be the tightest metal band I've seen, tighter than Iron Maiden, to be honest.

SRV and Double Trouble- Live at the El Mocambo...changed my guitar playing in ways I could never imagine.
Queen-Live??..can't remember exactly what one. Watched it at a friends place and was pretty blown away.
Festival Express..more of a documentary but loads of killer live footage of some amazing bands.

I went to back to back shows on that tour. They played 2 nights in DC. It was a pretty good show, the opening act blew, but Bobby and the boys were on.

I hope to meet Joel Osteen some day. I want to tell him that I learned to drink and smoke dope in his church.

I remember guys lining up to pee in the sinks and women peeing in the men's restrooms since the line was so much shorter. I saw a bunch of concerts there like The Kinks, Van Halen, Boston, Ozzy w/Randy Rhoads (and a very young Pantera), Rush, The Police, and others I;ll remember right before I go to sleep later.
