Had a glass on the rocks last night. It was so good, I decided to do the same tonight. It is fine neat, but the flavor exploded on the rocks, so I'll continue this method... Right now, in fact! It is very smooth for 100 proof, and the finish is long and tasty.

I've drifted away from the bourbons lately, but Knob Creek has reeled me back in. I like it more than Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, and Angel's Envy. It has an incredible taste that just works for me. I tried it neat again tonight, but the ice trumps neat here.

If you like Knob Creek, I bet you would like Woodford Reserve, too. Have you tried it?

There is a Knob Creek rye, also, that is really fantastic. It's great but not easy to find.

It's been a while since I've had KC but I may prefer it to woodford
 
I've decided that I don't like Knob Creek. It taste like a combination of bourbon and Malort. Malort is vile.

I'll use the rest of the bottle to cook with.
 
yea......i don't like KC either. i also don't like MM or WR.

i have found a few that i like, which i posted earlier, and for the most part they are reasonably affordable and i'm tired of dropping $$ on bourbons and getting them home and have a little and wanting to pour them down the drain. :mad:
 
I work downtown about 6 blocks from the largest liquor store in the area, so I took a little trip. Wow, they have all the good stuff that my local one never has.

Bought a bottle of Redbreast 12

OK, took a small taste of each before bed.
The Glenfarclas is a deeply sherried malt. You have to enjoy sherry and wine to "get" it.
The Redbreast is divine! Not flashy or peatie, but super smooth and tasty sweet. I'm in love. I never knew an Irish whiskey could be this great.
 
I can get any kind of whiskey I want, as long as it's Scotch. :embarrassed:

I would love to mix in bourbon once in a while, but Mrs. Roach haz a bias.

I've never tried that buy yeah their rye is excellent!

I haven't even had it in my budget to buy anything but Beam or Evan Williams lately, and haven't even picked up either of those in a while. :(

The Squidette and I are both dying for some Laphroaig though- I think we are are actually going to try to fit it into our budget spreadsheets. :embarrassed:

I don't mind it, as I like just about all bourbons, but I have to say that I find WR to be kinda mediocre for the price. Too mellow I guess? It's quite drinkable but just seems very boring to me.

The store I mentioned above is Spec's Downtown on Smith St. It was my first visit, and wow, it is as big as a regular (not Super) Target or Walmart!

It is pretty spectacular. :thu:

I work only a few blocks from it but I haven't been there in ages (I take the bus usually so I can't just stop on the way home).

The suburban Spec's locations aint bad either though.

If you like that, pickup some Jameson's 18. Irish is my got to liquor.
 
I used to always drink whiskey and coke, or whiskey w/ beer back, until I tried Bourbon. Bourbon was Soooooo smooooth. But I stopped driiking about 20 years ago, and honestly I don't miss it.

I know - I'm no fun.
