I would be in good shape on this if I could get my EZdrummer and my controller figured out. As it stands, I do not think I will be participating.
What's up with your EZDrummer program? A few people here use it. Maybe we can help.
I have EZdrummer sort of figured out, but I cant get it to work with a controller. I am totally new to PC recording. I could do an original OK, but I cannot figure out how to program it precisely enough to do a decent cover of anything.
When you say controller, I presume you mean midi keyboard controller.
So, it sounds like you can load the standard beat midi patterns from EZDrummer into a song, but you want to mess around with them and individualize them. The drums are loaded around the C2 - C3 area on the keyboard, so you may have to adjust the octave range on your keyboard controller to activate the drum samples. The other thing to check is you may have to arm the drum track for recording and set the input to "Midi Input: All Channels" (or something similar depending on your DAW). What DAW are you using as your recording software?
P.S: Don't mean to stick my nose into your business, but hopefully it will help get your problem sorted.
No, I would be glad for any help man. I am extremely frustrated that I have all this equipment and havent been able to make any use of it yet. I really, really want the drumkit together. I have an akai MPD24, it isnt a keyboard, it is pretty much designed for drums.
I'm using Reaper, though I have Sonar LE too, just have never installed it.
I can use it, meaning I can load it up, pick a groove, adjust the tempo, add fills, etc. But I dont know how to program it and I cant set it up with the midi controller. The stock grooves arent enough to do covers with. It's great for jamming with and MUCH faster than what I was using, but to do a cover I need it to do specific things, and I dont know how to tell it to do that.
