Achtung! Bourbon.

There's a bottle of something sitting under the Christmas tree for me, but I don't know if I can wait that long. I might have to pick something up on the way home tonight.

It's really cruel to wrap something like that and make me look at it for a week.

I know the feeling. I just had a student email me to let me know that I had some "holiday spirits" sitting outside my office door since I left early last night and I gave my studio key to one of the teachers to close up so I can't get to it until tomorrow.

And tonight would be a perfect night for some "spirits'.

Hehe. A student brought me a Christmas gift.

Let it sit for a while.

I had a bottle for quite a long time and when I finally finished it, I ran out and got another because I was enjoying it so much.

First shot out of the new bottle: blech.

well......i'll give that a shot. not like it's taking up too much room and anything

Rather than try something new, I scored the last bottle of Buffalo Trace on the shelf from a NH state packy in Hudson NH. There was a whole section of bourbon, and this was the only empty shelf. Not exactly cheap. But not craptastic booze either.

Tonight's drink of choice.

It's not bad. A bit rougher than Buffalo Trace. It's about $3 more a bottle. I won't throw it out but I doubt I'll buy it again. I prefer BT.

I actually liked the Russels quite a bit. I just got a bottle of BT from Tyler this week too.

lol. I lived in Hudson, NH for about 20 years. My wife worked at the state liquor store in Hudson when we were in college. Right on Lowell, Road next to the Market Basket/Demoulas supermarket. Small world.

I like bourbon too. Even smaller world.

I haven't tried that yet but their rye is still my favorite. It is a little smoother/less spicy than the other rye's I've had and it hits the mark perfectly.

Eagle Rare (when i can find it)

Bought a bottle of Eagle Rare today. I thought since so many of you like it, it was worth trying.

I went to a little liquer store to check out their selection and they had some fine 18 and 21 year old scotch there. I don't see spending $80-$130 for a bottle, however. Besides, I'd have to return to the 12 and 16 year olds later, and I'm happy with them so far.

Eagle Rare is an interesting one...not a favorite though. Really inciting aroma but flavor didn't really match. Lots of apricot in the finish w/ plenty of heat

I'm changing my higher-end preference from Blantons to Bookers. I like Blantons well enough, but Bookers is so smooth for being 130 proof that it's almost ridiculous. But at $50/fifth I won't be enjoying it too often.

I bought my Dad some Blanton's for Christmas. I had never tried it before and I must say it is my new favorite.

Plus the whole unfiltered thing adds a lot of interesting stuff happening with the flavor. I love Bookers. I've got a bottle at home right now signed by Fred Noe, Booker Noe's son and current master distiller of Jim Beam. Actually the bottle isn't signed. I had him sign the wooden box it came in, so I could drink the bottle and replace it if I felt the need.

Blanton's is my number one go-to for single malt drinkers who need to be introduced to good Bourbon. It never fails to impress.

Dad is a big single malt scotch drinker and I didn't want to get him scotch again. I was surprised by how much he liked it.

Interesting, did not know it was unfiltered. Whatever they're doing they can keep it up, it's fannytastic. :embarrassed:

Bought a bottle of Sazerac Rye and Knob Creek Bourbon yesterday. The Sazerac was excellent! A deep, rich rye for rye lovers.

I'll try the Knob Creek tonight...

As far as rye goes you might then also like Rittenhouse. As a bonus, it's quite easy on the wallet.
