As a former Washburn salesman I typically hate any of their products on sight. That looks cool. BUt it's still a Washurn. :embarrassed:

thats a hard call. I'd have to say that over the years I've seen more actual defective gear from Washburn. I might quit playing guitar if I was forced to make a choice though.
 
Speaking of Washburn...what's the word on the Parkers since they bought the brand?
 
I love my Washburn Idol WI66PRO. You'll have to shoot me to get it from my hands. Compared to the many other mid-priced double humbucker, mahogany LP-ish guitars I tried or have owned, it absolutely smokes the competition. So, fuck that in its stupid meathead fucking face. :tongue:

Washburn, like any other company, has made guitars I've liked, and made guitars I've not liked.
this one's okay, but doesn't gun my motor a whole lot

One of the best acoustic guitars I've ever played was a Washburn made in the 70's. Every instrument that passed through my store in the 90's has some sort of problem though,
 
Yea, I have not been impressed by the newer ones, myself... I got lucky in 1985 with the Falcon, as it was sitting in a corner of a music store in its case, which was closed... It was previously owned, but never used, and was mint... I got it for $220, with the case... Now that poor guitar is apart, and I'm thinking about re-fretting it... That guitar has had a lot of hours on it, as it was my only electric until 2 years ago... It's got lot's of mojo, and about 120 dings, all lovingly installed by me over the years...

I've had a couple of Washburn acoustics that were OK, but I will admit to having played a few that were not very good. I tried out a J600. It was OK, but that was about it IMO. It was kind of like the old Tandy Radio Shack electronics stuff - OK, but you can probably find better for the same price, if you do some searching. I thought the Hofner HCT-J17 I tried in the same price range (Elderly has a used one at a stupid cheap price), was a better guitar, as long as you can live with its clownburst finish.

I didn't know we hated Washburns.

I knew a guy back int the 70's that had a Washburn acoustic. It' was quite nice. That's the sum total of my experience with Washburn guitars.

First guitar in the thread looks very nice. I might even say "hot".
 
My first guitar was a Washburn Shadow series HSS strat copy. I liked it well enough, but at the time had pretty much nothing to compare it to. Now I don't really remember if it was decent or not. :shrug:

The one in the OP looks really nice, though not my style.

I'm also interested in hearing about Parker since Washburn took them over.
 
I know flamed bursts aren't everyone's fav, but this '09 plays like buttah and sounds fantastic with the Seymour Duncan 59 neck, Custom-Custom bridge pickups.
I can't claim anything for some of the other models and years, but their older acoustics and recent electrics are of excellent quality.
