Just a note about why I will no longer be posting my lessons on Harmony Central

I know of at least one sandy vagina over at HC that continuously complained about Mark's lessons, or as he called them, "spam". I'm sure that had something to do with it too.

Oh well. Considering that your lessons were the only actual content on HC that I knew of, I guess it was out of place. "Can't have actual content. Gotta make things look like Twitter."

Nice resignation letter.

I was going to post some porn and get permabanned, but I didn't want the thread to go. If anyone with mod powers can ban me, but leave my post intact and unlocked, that would be fantastic. :)

I've heard Strings refer to Marks postings as 'spamming' for his site before... Other than that, I can't remember any other people getting bent out of shape for it.....

I understand the reasoning, but the timing is pretty terrible. I suppose this violates some policy or another of theirs, but given the current environment over there I think I would turn a blind eye, at least until things had smoothed over somewhat. That being said, I haven't posted over at HC since the changeover, haven't bought anything through GC/MF, and I doubt I ever will again.

I can think of a few last week who were very vocal about this place, and who probably saw this as a chance to put me in my place by reporting me as spam.

Hey, this guy is doing demos with the specific aim of selling EHX pedals. Let's report him.
http://acapella.harmony-central.com/showthread.php?t=2608361

The thing is that most working or "Pro" content providers in these forums have SOMETHING to sell. Does the forum at large want those guys to take their expertise away because of this sort of thing? I'm not going to get into specifics because because if I raise enough of a stink its going to make life harder for the other contributing "spammers" who I think are important to the community.

Someone comes here and their first post is about discount autoparts I run them out of the forum in as embarrassingly a way possible. Someone comes here, makes himself a part of the community by posting regularly and not advertising directly to the forumites then I don't have a problem if someone says "Hey, check out my new XXXXXX".

I would think that my 20,827 posts on Harmony Central since January of 2007 would have made me a contributing part of the community.

Even if about 6,000 of them were :embarrassed:

:embarrassed:

After the disaster of the 2.0 launch they probably got Accenture or some similar bods in to do an audit of the situation. One of the things on their checklist would be to make sure no one else is making a profit from HC traffic without HC getting a cut. So they recommended bitch slapping Mark without any understanding of the underlying dynamic.

This is pure speculation but the sudden decision to crack down on Mark stinks of straitjacketed external influence.

Ultimately rules are rules. I have rules here and they have rules there and if you want to participate in something that is essentially a free forum with a "Terms of Service" or something like that you're supposed to abide by the rules. Unfortunately it seems like some rules are only enforced over there when it's convenient.

It's about fucking time. How long did we have to wade through Mark's lessons to find out what Crab_Cake found on the sidewalk? How long did we have to learn about scales and such before finding a good thread about Motorik's satanic sex obsession?

I, for one, was fucking tired of hearing about forumites recording fests and gear acquisitions, when what I really wanted was a good thread about clit piercings.

So, hooray for HC! It's about time they start editing for content.

(and in response to Chihli's boycott of MF/GC, I just want to say that I will continue to spend my $42.50 per year at their establishment while receing $65.25 worth of catalogues).

I actually had to Google Accenture :embarrassed:

I'm still going with a few butthurt forumites, myself.

Agreed.

Cosmic Ray was a cool guy that posted at GJ a lot. He sells some cool cord ties and had a thread mentioning them one time. He didn't even get a warning or anything. They just deleted his shit.

I bought a few packs. They're pretty good if anyone is interested in more info.

By "cord ties" do you mean cable wraps, or do you mean corduroy neckties? 'Cause if it's the latter, y'know, paging Crab_Cake.

I don't see how it could have been Strings since he doesn't seem to have been on either HC site in the past few days. Then again, it's a pretty big assumption that either HC site is correctly displaying the "last activity" time.

That said, I really don't think Strings ever had a problem with Mark posting his lessons. None of the mods did that I know of.
