What's your strap of choice?

We've discussed picks, what about straps? I have a hard time finding straps long enough for me - I don't wear my guitar like Slash low, more a medium height, but I'm all upper body and not small. For years I was using some wide leather straps I found from a custom seller on Ebay, but now I've found I actually like a thinner strap and have settled on Ernie Ball Jacquard straps, which I also think look nice depending on the pattern.

Still, I'm always on the lookout for something new on which to spend my cash, so what do you like for straps? How low/high do you wear your guitar? Any other strap related info?

For neck-heavy guitars, I use a Couch seatbelt strap with an 8-oz fishing weight on the bottom end. This also has the benefit of on-the-fly adjustments when going from the strap position of an SG to something a bit more standard.

Otherwise, I just use that standard $25 suede strap that every company puts their name on.

I own a ton of straps, but I have three of these Levy straps; one this color, one darker brown, and one blue.

I also have two of these Levy straps.

I am told that I wear my guitar a bit lower than the average folk singer, whatever that means.

I like the vinyl Couch straps. My bass is head heavy, so I got a Levy’s leather strap with a suede backing for that one.

A buddy of mine made a pickguard for my Tele and a matching strap. It's 2 1/2" inches wide and super soft.

These are straps I have out and use the most. I have several straps like the right bottom strap I got free with Dunlop Straploks. Their lengths are not consistent and perhaps that's why they were free. They also pull facial hair, but when I shave they're the most comfortable as they don't cut into my neck. The one above it is the Dunlop Jimi Hendrix strap. The material that goes against the body is soft and clings to the cloth of your shirt which really helps with neck heavy guitars. The blue, gold, and bird strap are all Ernie Ball. The 3 inch wide strap is a Planet Waves one I use on my bass guitars.

Measured fully extended strap lock pin to strap lock pin:

Each Ernie Ball Strap: 70 inches
Dunlop Jimi Hendrix: 60 inches
Dunlop on bottom right: 63 inches
Planet Waves: Didn't extend because both ends extend and it's pain in the butt. No really that long though.

I use a Perri's brown suede 2.5" strap.
It is adjustable to Ramones low.

I have a white one with black design on my white Tele. Actually, that one is slightly different.

This strap is now on the Danelectro 6-string

and this is on the Danelectro 12-string

I don't know where you get your straps but Amazon has a lot of the Ernie Ball designs that recently dropped for around $15 that Musician's Friend has for $21.

Thanks for the heads up. I've snagged a couple from MF recently but I used points, so next time will check Amazon ).

I used to have a converted bandolier strap. It was nice and wide and started a lot of conversations. It clashes with my current guitar, so I'm in the market for a nice wide leather strap.
