Kemper transition is underway

The Michael Britt 69 Marshall profiles are absolutely the most greasy, nasty Marshall sounds I've ever heard in my life. I'm in love with how amazing these sound.

I'm looking forward to hearing the thing through speakers rather than headphones.

I was pretty hesitant about getting another modeling thing, as I tend to twirl knobs and strum an open G all day on modelers, tweaking shit to get something that sounds OK. I usually toss all the presets that are too wet and just sound bad,. This is the opposite, I pick up, plug in and play it. It is so much like an amp it is hard to believe. It feels like an amp and sounds like one too, and the tone stack is dead simple to adjust, just like an amp. Even the FX edits are arranged in a logical way, with stuff you would change up front in the system, and stuff you might never touch at the back of the menus. Very logical and really user friendly. I'm struggling a little with the profile management/search from the front of the amp, but that is just a bit of the learning curve, and I have like 600 in there right now. Anyway, if you can sit in front of an amp and get a sound that makes you want to play, you can use a Kemper. Most of the commercial profiles I've tried so far are so good and musical that I have adjusted nothing and just played them as is. The tone this thing can produce is just stunning. Think of the ideal blackface, tweed, Marshall plexi, ac30, etc, they are all in there....and you can download hundreds of subtle variants to get exactly what you want. The other cool aspect is the profiles of all the cool high end an rare stuff. No idea how good those models are, but they sound great.

Daisy is a great dog. She is a 3 year old pug. Dumb as a rock, but lovable and she is part of a bonded pair with Rosie the English bulldog. Daisy is like my shadow and wants to be in the middle of everything.

Some of my favorites too. Top Jimi and MBritt make some fantastic profiles.

Glad you're enjoying your Kemper man! Once you get the floorboard working, make sure you take advantage of the morphing feature. It's super useful for a variety of parameters. You can attach up to 6 expression pedals and assign just about anything you want to them. I'm not a wah guy so I generally use it for volume, gain, or delay stuff. You can also assign things like "hold/infinite repeat" and rotary speed to floor board buttons.

There are some great youtube tutorials and such as well, every time I watch a new one I learn something new and useful.

Yeah, so far I love it. I got my Yamaha HS8 monitors in and hooked up. It sounds really great in stereo and the monitors are more than loud enough for what I need.

I haven't tackled the controller or pedal yet, beyond watching a you tube video on the controller. This weekend I hope to get that part all sorted and then start creating some 'performances' with favorite patches

Still watching enviously. Not in the cards for me for quite a while but there are times where a Kemper would simplify my life greatly.

Got the whole thing hooked up and working great. Foot controller and expression pedal. I really love this thing. I might get another expression pedal. Anyway, I'm super happy I took the plunge.

Yep. I love it. Probably the best gear purchase I ever made. So many great sounds in that box, and most are really close to perfect and require virtually no tweaking. I've barely touched the tone stack on any preset, and just use them straight as they come. I'm going to grab another expression pedal one of these days.

I think it would be good to have a computer based editor, which is on the way but not yet available, as the menu system from the front panel isn't difficult, but there is a lot of depth and a GUI would be very helpful. Also, my Kemper wants to update with every new patch, including a recent buggy test build, so that can be a little annoying. Pretty minor complaints, really, but clearly there are places to improve. The auto update would suck if I was a touring musician, as some builds are not very stable and have bugs. I can't figure out how to turn that off.

Anyway, the thing makes me want to play. I just went back and relearned a bunch of old Van Halen tunes after getting a cool brown sound amp pack. I flip to a patch and find myself going down weird roads to learn songs, techniques, etc. It is super fun and very different than my past modeler experiences.

Awesome dude! I don’t know what it will run you across the pond, but the Moog expression pedal is built like a tank and it’s only $30-$40 on Amazon. Comes with a nice long trs cable too.

Have you started playing with all the funky delay presets? They do everything from simple slapback to analog tape to crazy summon the devil riding a unicorn sounds.

We profiled a vintage deluxe reverb in the studio last month. It’s a little lifeless and I think I screwed up the final steps in the process. Hoping to get another go this Saturday. Will share if it’s any good
