I would want to measure it, but visually, that neck pickup doesn't seem to sit straight in that hole.

The neck pickup is definitely crooked.
You can see the gap between the pickup and the pickup cavity. Top right.
Just looking at how poorly the strings align to the neck, I’d say the bridge is off a bit too.
Maybe it’s just the body that’s in the wrong place.

Not sure what kind of HB bridge that is but some hardtail bridge are as narrow as 1-31/32 or 2 inch string spacing. It is possible that the builder angled the neck pup to line the pole pieces up with the strings.

It's just a matter of taking the time to square things up...
My impression of it is that he had an idea for a concept but the actual results did not pan out...I don't think attention to detail would make it any better, just less visibly bad...

It's the body.
The cut angles for the upper and lower cutaways are WAY different and there's no continuity. Your brain expects a direct line from the neck end of the upper cut to the neck beginning of the lower but it isn't there.
I just held a ruler to the screen, and the bridge and pups are all perfectly aligned.
It's an optical illusion created by an ugly ass body shape.
