WTF: You know, relatively speaking, there really aren't THAT many songs about crossbows...

I googled the lyrics to Down By The River. Neil never mentions what he shot his baby with so, it could be a crossbow. In a bizarre coincidence, I honestly haven't heard this song in a while and I had forgot, Down By The River includes the line-

She could drag me over the rainbow

Yngwie's song about a bow is an instrumental. It's difficult to tell if he's shredding about a regular bow, or a crossbow.

You pushed play but nothing happened? Ha ha!

Im thinking that in the song 'Billy Don't Be A Hero' its quite possible that the cavalry were mown down a by crossbow bearing enemy.

The evidence...

I heard his fiancee got a crossbow
That was how Billy died that day
The letter said that he was a crossbow hero
She should be proud he died that way
I heard she threw the crossbow away

That's where Foreigner got "Crossbow Hero" from?

I used to think Shot to the Heart from Bon Jovi was a cupid crossbow song. Plus, Jon's buddy Tommy, who you all worked on the dock, was a big crossbow buff. They would give the dock-hands an extra buck fifty for each dock-rat they whacked.

But then I played the song again, and I realize they say 'loaded gun' 48 times.

I must admit I haven't thought about crossbows for a while. Flails on the other hand are definitely back en vogue if you ask the HEMA crowd on YT.

Last night, I came upstairs from the basement and my wife was watching an episode of, "Living With A Serial Killer." The episode was about the Bradford murders, West Yorkshire, England. Stephen Griffiths was, known as the, "Crossbow Cannibal."
