What to do in Vegas?

We are staying at Lake Las Vegas for a couple more days. After we hit all of things we planned on doing, we'll still have a free day or two. The list of done or to do things so far:
Hoover Dam
Red Rocks Canyon
Cirque Du Soleil O
Freemont Street Experience
Atomic Energy museum
Valley of Fire
Bellagio fountain show.

We are thinking about going to a ghost town. The one in Nelson looks interesting.

Anyone have any personal favorites for things within a two hour drive of Vegas?

Penn & Teller at The Rio.

Laughlin, Nevada is like a mini Vegas on the Colorado river.
It’s about and hour and half drive through the desert.
Bullhead City is across the river. There’s a place to get lottery tickets (because Nevada is not a gambling state), and a Home Depot, and a Sam’s club…

The mini strip in Laughlin has hotels where you can use any casino points you might have racked up. Free buffets. Free rooms. Etc…

Blackjack can be fun. Back in the day, there was always room at a blackjack table.

I grew up part of my life in Lake Havasu City, AZ. I took road trips to Vegas. But, Laughlin was closer, so I spent more time there.

My friend and I played blackjack in our teens (17,18,19). The age to gamble was 21. They served free drinks as long as you were gambling. But, if you started to win, the pit boss would notice you, we’d get carded and kicked out. Sometimes, we got kicked out quick. We could spend all day into the early morning hours playing blackjack, and drinking, yet there were still plenty more casinos to visit.

My favorite thing to do in Vegas is to get the hell out of Vegas ASAP. I hate Vegas.
We've spent fairly little time in Vegas proper. Cirque du soleil, neon museum, and Freemont street was the extent of it. We are staying at the Lake Las Vegas Weston which is nicely outside the craziness.

2nd penn and teller
Grand canyon.
We did a moped tour of red rocks which was pretty fun.
Lots of good places for eating.

The last time I was there was to meet my sister after she was there for 2 weeks. I had never seen her so sick. 2 days after we flew home, she died. She was one of the first Covid deaths. I know that it's not Vegas' fault. There are just too many negative feelings about that city for me to consider going back.

I went to Vegas to see a show at the Sphere last May. We went to the Neon Museum, Valley of Fire, and Fremont St. Look for a place called Pizza Rock. Amazing pizza. I also heard the Gangster Museum is fun.

Restaurants and shows for me. I put aside money I already consider lost and hit the black jack tables.

Avoid the all you can eat bright pink beef rib and green vein snow crab buffet. If you must, pick out a good toilet.

I have never been to Vegas except for work stuff. I think it’s a silly and bad place, but one benefit is there are ample distractions that can keep you busy after conference stuff. Conferences/conventions in more “real” places tend to suck because it’s a difficult situation for doing actual fun/interesting stuff after hours. So having easy access to hedonism is convenient.

I can’t really imagine going to Vegas on purpose for vacation on my own dime.
