We're moving house next week.

Poor old Geordie's array...
This is the first full blown house move I've done as an adult and f### me this part of the process is a drag.

The lady we're buying from has bought this place so we need to move at exactly the same time and we're only a 3 minute drive away so moving day is going to be fun making sure we don't tread on each others toes.

Tomorrow is going to be my last prosecco sesh in the hot tub, I'm feeling a little emotional :embarrassed:

I'm actually going to miss having Badger as a neighbour too. @Motorik he's stopped calling me Geordie. Still hasn't got my proper name but he's getting warmer.

Good luck.

DIY or paying for movers? We've always done our packing and moves ourself. Every time we say this is the last time we're going to DIY.

Good Luck and God speed!

Over the last month I've moved labs at work and my mother from a 4 bdr house of 60 years to a 2 bdr apartment. I'm in pain and exhausted. Bad timing on both moves much less at the same F'n time!

With big enough truck(s), you can move out, leave the stuff on the truck(s) and wait at the pub until the new place is empty and cleaned up. Then move in to the new place.
If you hire movers, you can wait at the pub during the entire ordeal.

We're unfortunately moving further away from some fantastic pubs. Will be good for the wallet and waist line I suppose.

We're doing it ourselves. Vans were wanting everything itemised including boxes and bags. I've no idea. The guys she's using did her a quote that covered everything, no questions or adds on if you ended up over. I asked them to do the same for me and they wouldn't.

She's letting me move the bigger stuff into her / our garage on the Wednesday night. The schools are on holiday so all my able bodied friends are away except my good bachelor pal Andy who is going to give me a hand. Thursday we'll just be doing boxes (no big objects) and then can mop up the rest of the stuff that's been left at her parents and my lock up.

Bruh, it's a 3 minute drive :embarrassed: Unless you drive like a maniac you should be golden to hobble back and have some extra time to sober up before you get home :embarrassed:

Good luck with the move!

I'll be driving the truck unfortunately but I have grand plans to turn the old pool room into a bar / den.

We're just across the park from our current place. Mrs JBJ is bemoaning the fact she'll have to walk around it if she's coming off the train from town, our local etc... I'm already one step ahead of her and ordered head torches :embarrassed:

I’ve moved nine times in the last twenty years and it always sucks. Unpacking is even worse; we moved in November and the house is still full of unpacked boxes.

Moving sucks regardless of where and how far. But the payoff is awesome.

Absolutely mate. It's needing new windows and a few exterior things right off the bat. Hopefully that's the big jobs then it's decorating to turn it into ours. It's 5 beds so the next time I move it'll be getting wheeled into a home or carried out in a box :embarrassed:

Nah fuck that.

We're in on Thursday, I'm out on the ran dan for the football on the Saturday so, my stuff at least, will be done on the Friday.

I've moves 3 times in my adult life:
twice to the Middle East with an acoustic guitar and suitcase then from my parents to this place which involved a couple more guitars and a few boxes of clothes and books. This is a different kettle of fish but I'm on it.

so you are basically swapping houses with this lady ?

Yeah. She's downsizing and we're practically doubling our footprint plus quadrupling the garden space but with the profit on this place, savings and a little loan from my dad, we've been able to buy it outright too so f### the banks. :embarrassed:

As with most great life events, this was borne out of a pub conversation.

Dad: "How'd the house viewing go this morning?"

Me: "It was alright, Mrs JBJ likes it but I'm not 100% into it. Kitchen is too small and I'm sure the loft will be riddled with damp."

Barmaid: "Are you and Mrs JBJ moving? My mum viewed your neighbours last year when they were selling and loved it, she just wasn't ready to move at that point."

Me: "I'd forgot about that. What's her place like?"

Cue swapping some photos on our phones, a text to her mum and that was the ball rolling. :thu:

A monumental moment. Also, moving sucks. We moved 4 times in 16 years. The last 3 were in the span of 6 years and we've been here coming up on 7.
