and that diagram talks about 'curvature of the earth' and that's not correct. it's the rotation of the earth that has to be taken into consideration when making 2000+ yard shots.

mine has been (so far) head shot ground hog at 818 yards.

Nice. Mine was open sight with a M16.
800m was the quoted max effective range of the M16.
I think that was based on the round penetration of an Israeli helmet.

i was using a Rem. 700 (ex. USMC M-40) rebarreled/chambered to 6mmx284 and a Leupold Mark IV 16x scope. here's a pic. (i'll delete the pic if you don't want it in this thread) also, here's a target that i shot with that rifle at 200 yards, the same summer as the ground hog.

Very impressive. One of my co-workers here tried shooting a Coke bottle at 1 mile. He missed the bottle but hit close enough that the gravel the bullet kicked up by the bottle broke the bottle instead.

My main is a Ruger M77 7mm Mag.

Accurate, flat shooting and powerful.
It will take down just about any big game in North America.
