The second BS thread that Mark forced us to create.

turns out I lied.
there was one Lucky in the fridge.

was

I've always had a pretty high tolerance for beers.
which is weird, cuz I'm a pretty small guy. 5'8ish, 145lbs
but I can knock 'em back with guys twice my size, and usually drink them under the table.

I'm sure my liver's the size of Montana now, though.

but I've been this way since my early teens (in my 40's now)

well, I've never had any competition from the gals I've been with, that's for sure
Tamara can maybe drink a smallish bottle of wine, while I knock back 20 beers.

our drummer, who's a fair bit taller than me, and MANY pounds heavier (mostly muscle, his arms are bigger than my thighs) can't get through a 6pk.

I guess I can see why he hates paying my bar tab after a gig.

I may be the exception to the rule. I'm 5'10" and weigh 270 but my wife can drink me under the table.

I'm only basing that on my personal experience. Most of my female friends stop at one or two. Most of my male friends drink more. I know I was able to drink much more before I transitioned from male to female. My body now handles alcohol and fat very differently than it used to. There are exceptions to the rule. But hormones make a big difference.

makes sense to me, but I've never thought about it before.
now that I do, yeah, most of my gal pals don't have a tolerance anywhere near mine.
though I think mine's kinda weird too, for my size and all.

I can only think of one gal I know (drummer's ex, actually) who can go toe-to-toe with me when it comes to beers.

Hello!

I also think, of course, it depends on how "in drinking shape" one is - for several years now, if I have three beers or more at one sitting, I get really pretty buzzed, if not a little worse, plus as much as I like beer, the bloat it gives me really doesn't allow me to drink that much. I also tend to go a bit more higer-end, so the expense adds up faster :snooty:.

Peeker, you worry me, though. Cheers, and hope you're around for a long time to come. You're a fun read, cool musician, and sound like a pip to hang with :)

PK, I didn't know that prior to your post...err, exactly ... Rock on, girl! :)

Scott, it's not like I hide it. It's just part of my past. If I didn't have the paperwork I'd probably forget it myself. If people don't like it they can fuck off.

Scott (this sounds so weird, since it's actually my name as well ), no need to worry about me.
I'll be around for a good while yet.
once work picks up again, it'll be dry-out time.

comes and goes, y'know?

and PK, couldn't agree more.

I used to have a pretty high tolerence, which I used to see as a blessing, because I never liked beer al that much and Scotch was my prefered evil spirit. It just seemed more sophisticated to me. I could sit in the bar for hours on end making rookies from the University turn green.

It was a curse when I wasn't as gainfully employed as I once was and started to realize just how much money I was spending. I was never into drinking to get drunk either as both my parents have had long battle with alcoholism and substance abuse.

What really made me quit was seeing how much of an asshole my ex wife would become when we would go out to bars, which slowly became a couple nights a week to almost nightly.

Once I got divorced I gave it up entirely and haven't had a drink in years. Now I just need to give up soda:thu:

good on ya, brother!

I've spent some years sober, so I know how hard it is to stop.
these days, I think it's a lot out of boredom.
I don't work regular hours/days or anything, so there's a LOT of downtime at home.
if I'm not writing songs, I don't pick up the guitar much.
so it's a lot of "drink your ass off and babble on the interwebz" kinda thing.

once the hotel has the bar & restaurant up and running, I'll be working full time, so things will mellow out for me then.
not sayin' I'm gonna stop, mind ya

just not all day, every day.
I think I've been sober maybe 6 days in the last 30.

yeah, it's a problem...

I'm also a Scott. So was Zemmy, and I think maybe one other on the original HC thread... Too many Scotts up in this bitch.

And all this talk is making me THIRSTY.
