Went to one of the area GCs today. They have a "Guitarathon" sale going through 10/22. Between that and some in-store clearances, there are some actual legit deals:

I had to refresh the page a few times, as it defaults back to 299 sometimes, but it is possible to get it into the cart at 229.

FWIW, these are going for 500 bucks on Amazon direct from Hofner, so it seems like a really good deal.

I looked around a little more, and it seems Hofner has discontinued this model. They are made in China, but the reviews are really, really good. CMI is the company that currently owns the Hofner name, but the operation is still run by the Germans.

I might buy one, as they look cool.
 
I really liked the one I tried. To me, this deal is a no brainer. The listings I see on other sites say that it either comes with a hard case or a gig bag. I don't know if that's true with this deal. I'll find out later this week.

Is a Hammer Slammer worth $150?

There's one on my local CL for $99 that's been reposted at least a dozen times and apparently the dude still can't unload it.

Serious question. If it is decent for $150, maybe I should put the CL guy out of his misery?

It's not a Hamer Slammer. Whoever, at that GC doesn't know what they are doing. It's a Hamer Slamer series, and HELL YES it's worth $150. Is am actual Slammer worth $100? Probably not.
 
You can find Gibson, and Fenders that are turds, and you can find a cheap guitar that just has it. That being said, stay away.

Here is a Strat copy for $100. Odds are it's ten times better than the Slammer.
