Help! Talk me down!

There’s a 2009 white standard strat (same vintage is my LPB standard tele) at Starving Musician with a $449 price tag. I’m thinking if I can talk them down to $400 I might bite. I don’t need it, but I don’t currently have a strat-shaped guitar and have never had an S-S-S strat. Tell me why I shouldn’t do this, but keep saving up for something nicer...

You can probably score a better deal on Craigslist. MIM strats are common guitars.

MIM Strats are $300-ish all day on my local Craigslist, frequently $275. $400 is way too high IMO.

I’m down. I spent some time playing my 1960 Musicmaster, and have decided that I MUST have a new duo-sonic HS!

got nothing either. But MIM standards can be had cheaper. I love my MIM 6oth anniversary with the tex mex pickups, similar to the Jimmy Vaughan strat but with the regular modern c neck instead of a v.

I put a seymor duncan hotrail in my bridge pickup of my S S S strat being I played in a cover band to get that more gnarly crunch when needed.

I'm pretty sure there's at least one MiM strat available around me for $250. One could slap a used Hot Noiseless set on one, and have an embarrassingly versatile guitar for the asking price of your target.
