My thoughts watching the video-
After 5 seconds: Which guitar do I want to pull the frets out of?
Couple of minutes into it: Fuck. All my fretboards are either Maple or rosewood.
As I'm typing this-
How stupid would it be to put self stick copper shielding on the fretboard? I bet Icopper would work.
One of my thoughts was, If I had a guitar that needed a refret, you could try it in-between. Don't have any needing a refret. This gives me an idea of buying something better, that needs a refret...
I do have a Korean Hamer Strat so, bolt-on neck, wouldn't mind a chunkier neck if I destroyed the stock one but, find a replacement neck for an import. Can't destroy that one for sentimental resons.
Dumb question- does scale length matter if you remove the frets?
I suspect that they may have other radii available at some point after the plague is over.Checked out Howell necks. Dang, that's a great price. Every one in the shop is 9.5 radius. Have you ever seen other radi? Want to know if I wait, I can get bigger.
Wood color is consistent throughout the wood. This is well done roasted maple. You don't want any that is medium rare.Ok. 25 3/4-7 1/2=18 1/4. I measured com nut to 12th, doubled and came up a quarter shy of Gibson scale. So, that makes sense my neck,18", is 1/4 shy of strat. Close enough. Thank you.
Dumb question, Is roasted maple anything like meat- brown on outside, red inside? Hope they question makes sense, wondering if wood color is consistent when you shape the paddle headstock.
Fret puller arrived. Note to self- never try this again. At least not on something of any value. Probably should throw fret puller out so I won't be tempted.View attachment 64498
