Yeah, they clearly don't know the Mystix we know. I see where they are coming from, and not having the benefit of 10 years worth of NGD threads followed shortly thereafter by the thread listing that same NGD for sale, like many of us do, I could see where they get the notion at least.

Of course they are wrong, but trying to be proactively protective of their community is likely the root cause and while miguided in this case, is a generally positive sign of caring on their part.

As has been mentioned already, write a nice PM explaining that you had no ulterior motives and that this is just SOP for you, while acknowledging their concern.

If that doesn't work, send 'em here, and we can vouch for you.

And if that still doesn't work...

PM me that motherfucker's user name and I'll go over there and drop the classic OGG Sterling Ball ping hammer on that ass!
 
Call me an insensitive bastard but when someone stops loving me there is no doubt in my mind that they have lost their way.
 
I used to be fairly active over there and saw you post occasionally; I wonder if it's because they don't feel you're using the forum actively, other than to sell things?
 
Tell them that playing anything with more than 6 strings is a sign they are compensating for some other deficiency.

If I hadn't been watching John buy and sell guitars for the past 13 years or so, I'd never believe that it was possible to do what he does, and with the frequency that he does it. It's really something.

I can see how they assume that he was spamming.

Of course, we all know that's not the case, but we have a long history with him.

What really amazes me is the fact that the guitars that he flips are so similar. Like you say, we've been chatting together for well over a decade - some of us, closer to 20 than 10 - and we've probably seen John buy/sell close to 100 guitars. And the vast majority of of those came from maybe a half-dozen brands.

I'm sure it's been closer to 1000. I mean, if it's only 100 in 10 years, that's only 10 per year. I think it's WAY more than that.

Yeah, but my doctorate is in Irish drama. As long as I can add, subtract, divide, multiply, and use the Pythagorean theorem, I'm pretty much set.

I posted here a while ago the hypothesis that one could not purchase a used Ernie Ball Music Man that has not passed through the hands of our beloved Mystix. I heard Petrucci is buying his signature models from Mystix these days.

I resemble that remark. I've bought and sold so many guitars that are essentially the same. Used to be Strats, now it's McCartys. We know what we want; we're just looking for the perrrrrrfect example. :)

I think a lot of us are like this, just not to the Mystix extreme. I give him a hard time sometimes, but it is all in fun, and I don't really care how he spends his money.

My problem is, they come in and don't go out. Even if I'm not 100% on a guitar, I'd sooner sell my cat than a guitar.*

*there's no way I'd sell the cat, either.
