Riding Solo
He wasn't much of a musician and nobody here knows him.
I called him Dad.
After a few years of decline due to vascular dementia and general failing health at 91 he died today. I knew it was coming, doesn't make it easy but it's better for him as the last few years weren't what I would want him to have (bedridden, in a LTC facility). But he never lost his sense of humour and he remained a nice man in a place where a lot of the people aren't nice. The staff at the LTC facility loved him.
It a bit cathartic writing this. 2024 hasn't been the best year so far.
I love you Dad and I'm going to miss talking to you. I hope you remembered that I loved you and that you were a great father to us.
