RIP Randy Meisner

Sad. That whole generation of musicians are reaching the end of the life cycle. He was a part of Rick Nelson's Stone Canyon Band at one point and is on the live album that I love. RIP.

Yeah read that in the news this morning. Came across as a kind and modest fellow.

RIP

One of my earliest musical memories is listening to my AM radio to fall asleep to when we still lived in New York and "Take it to the Limit" was almost always one of the songs that I'd hear. I never really thought about it until now but I guess he was one of my earliest musical influences.

This one hurts. The Eagles were a huge part of my childhood (my dad and uncle were at the concert where the filmed the Hotel California video, which was also the live dvd in the documentary). They were always on in my house and I still prefer the original lineup over the latter one.

RIP Randy. And FWIW, the Eagles were a much better band than their reputation here would acknowledge

I see that sentiment sometimes that we're supposed to not like the Eagles, and I never understand why. You don't see people hating on Jackson Browne or Linda Ronstadt in that way. Is it simply because of Big Lebowski?

It's mainly because Henley and Frey are (were in Frey's case) world class assholes. The music itself is excellent, but was vastly overplayed on radio. I just got sick of hearing it for a long time.

I gave up when Hotel California came out. I prefer their first two albums.
