I personally think that black would be fine for all of them (maybe have the prefixes all in all-caps, if extra contrast is that important?), especially as the text in the indexes is blue. They're certainly far and away the best-looking ones thus far.

If we are considering the color design of the site, I like a background color that is a bit off white too. It could be to the gray side, or off white or whatever. But stark white is hard on the eyes. IMHO.
 
I have to agree, logging on this morning my first thought was "Man, that looks obnoxious - I can't wait 'til everyone gets tired of the new toy and stops with the prefixes".
 
The black prefixes look much better. Much less hard on the eyes. I still think the main background could be made less white.

changing the background will be a whole other thing...I'm waiting for the 4.1 update where they revamp the "Stylevars" system that allows you to change the style before I start messing with it.
 
I didn't mind the red so much, but I do like the black better.....though an italics option might make it stand out more...
