Phil Collins v Peter Gabriel

Phil. I saw him at The Fabulous Forum. His was the best sounding live performance i have been to. He had some great post Genesis tunes.
 
I'm not zealous about it, but I like Gabriel's solo work better. Collins can hit some deep 80s nostalgia nerves, though.
 
Tough one but Phil had a phenominal run...everyone likes to publicly hate on Phil but then you watch his youtubes and they alys have millions of views....



 
Peter is the better songwriter of the two. But Phil will always be one of my favourite drummers, and to be fair he did have quite a few good songs.
A lot of the criticism, sometimes abuse, towards Phil has been way over the top.
And Genesis post-Peter was very very good up to and including Duke imo. Trick of the Tail is probably still one of my favourite Genesis albums. Seriously good stuff.
 
Peter Gabriel by a lot. His solo albums and shows were consistently amazing.

I do like Collins’ voice and especially his drumming, and post-Gabriel Genesis was still pretty great. His solo output isn’t my thing, but I like a good bit of that first album, including “In the Air Tonight.”
 
Not even a close call, at all. Gabriel.

Didn’t care for Collins’s work in the 80’s then, enough to change the channel if it came on, and still don’t.

“I can feel her coming in the air tonight” with overly dramatic drum stuff, . . . . Bleh. So overplayed, so . . . CHANGE THE CHANNEL!!

Peter. By a good measure. I like Phil, and appreciate what he brought to Genesis and even some of his solo material. Peter just has the voice, the songwriting chops, and the catalogue. His live shows are absolutely killer too.
