blah, blah, blah...
Buddy always dreamt of being a drummer in a power trio. His inability to hold a drumstick or carry a beat kept it just that- a dream.
looks cold but looks like she gives zero fucks about that either
Happy new year from Kiira
This was during our walk along the coast yesterday. Happy to report she did not give a flying fuck about fireworks whatsoever, and was super happy with the guests I had over.
She was super hyped and playful yesterday, this picture was her running at me to give me a bodyslam and a bunch of facelicks after she worked me to the ground
have you considered getting him a Gong so he can bang it with his tailBuddy always dreamt of being a drummer in a power trio. His inability to hold a drumstick or carry a beat kept it just that- a dream.

It's not even that cold yet, around -5 celsius or something. Next week it should go more towards the -20.... But yeah, she loves the cold. She also has the fancy husky-like double coat that gets twice as thick in winter and comes with extra fur between her toes and stuff, so she really doesn't give a damn.looks cold but looks like she gives zero fucks about that either
Famous last words.....Mrs JBJ has given it the old "awww there's a dog needing a home" from various GSD Facebook groups in the last week. Not a chance we're taking on another dog.
Famous last words.....
I’ve mainly only ever had one dog at a time but Sonny I got when Callie was really old and currently I have Autumn the chihuahua with him. I don’t think I’d get two of the same breed or sex unless they were litter mates or depending on the individual dog but I think different size dogs and or different sex can be doable. A small dog with a larger one seems the easiest. Not a chance. 10% of me thinks it would be nice for Lola to have a friend, the other 90 is that it would be a complete disaster.
I'm pretty sure Kiira would not tolerate another dog living in our house. She loves other dogs (and all her reactivity issues stem from overexcitement rather than aggression towards other dogs), but after a year in the shelter, it's very clear she will not share the humans she now adores with other dogs. From some interactions in the dog park when other dogs show too much interest in me or CoGF, it's obvious she has decided that she has a good thing going and won't let other dogs come between her and us. Not that she'll be aggressive or anything, so far apart from self defense she's ridiculously polite and gentle, but she'll definitely give other dogs a warning that her humans are off limits. When we went to visit the shelter where we got her from in Lithuania this summer, we took another dog for a walk as a way to help them out, and she was very on the fence about the whole situation. It didn't help that that dog was a bit scared and not up for playing around though.I’ve mainly only ever had one dog at a time but Sonny I got when Callie was really old and currently I have Autumn the chihuahua with him. Kiira is a darling, in an ideal world her and Lola would be pals that could run around and play together.
That would be amazing. If we ever find ourselves roadtripping towards Scotland (which is definitely on the list at some long distance point in time ), I'll definitely hit you up. She loves bigger dogs, especially husky and german shepherds.
Only shame is she'll probably never be able to run free outside of a dogpark. She just has way too much prey-drive in her. I'm not too worried that she'd actually want to escape or run away from us, but when she sees a rabbit or hare, the instincts just take over and she goes. And by the time she realises what she's doing she might be totally lost.
We especially got frustrated with that in NL, where everyone has the idea that their dog should be off-leash whenever possible... Loads of those dogs have fuck all recall, so it's amazing when you're suddenly confronted with another dog with no owner in sight and Kiira being annoyed by being on a leash while the other dog is free to do whatever.
Luckily, while being a shelter-smart badass that takes shit from nothing, she's very gentle as long as the other dog isn't being a dick, it never ended badly, but jesus fuck, this obsession with off-leash walking is ridiculous. Especially with the added rescue-dog stigma it got so annoying. Especially the hordes of people with prejudices about rescue dogs, that immediately go "ah yes, cause she might hurt other dogs when you let her loose". My dude, this creature spent half her life sharing a shitty cage in an underfunded shelter with other dogs, she's so socialised and used to other dogs it's crazy. It's the fact that your dog has no boundaries and doesn't recognise she's telling it she's not comfortable with the situation and I'm protecting her from your dog...
To some people I just started saying she's a husky-finnish spitz mix, because the faces you get when you tell them you have no idea and it's probably some eastern european thrashcan mix are disgusting.
(sorry for the rant, I just got triggered by another instagram-dogtrainer ragging on rescuedogs )
Sonny is the same way....total instinct reractive to prey like rabbits which are very plentiful here, lizards, etc....his arch nemesis are birds for some reason....oddly he seems not to be bothered by cats. I therefore always need to keep him on a leash especially hiking or camping. I have to keep him on a tie out camping because like Kiira he would just take off on chase and I'm sure he'd find hius way back but I don't wanna risk the possibility he doesn't.That would be amazing.
