I enjoyed that. It gives me a better idea of how a pro working musician approaches things, rather than my "Ooh, that pedal looks cool!" approach. I may use it as a template to re-work the pedals I have to set up some sounds in a more logical way, even if I don't have the Boss switcher thing to immediately change sounds and have to step on a couple pedals to get it done. I am not on stage, and am under no time pressure when playing.

You can always tell a pro musician. At least one pedal will be crooked. Mine are all perfectly in line...lol.

I should do a video but in reality I don’t think it would really get the utility across and would probably sound kind of mediocre compared to some of the more “pro” produced rig videos.

It really just comes down to figuring out how to get what you need out of the gear for your unique requirements. I rarely have a sense that most folks think that way and that they are just buying what they think is a prepackaged aesthetic.

good blog. have you tried a helix?
Thanks!

Just at the LA amp show, which is a terrible place to try things. Pete thorn loves them. I’m a littl over Line 6 at this point in my life. I’d love to try a Kemper in a real world application though.

I have a general sound that I like for myself, and I think I tend to adjust whatever gear I have to access some of that. I am interested in learning over time how to accomplish some different things that might actually work in a band context rather than just playing at home.

The only way to do that is to play in a band and then start solving problems as they occur.
