NGD!

I kinda prefer the compensated 3 saddle but it’s more for looks and vibe than sound. I have the Wilkerson version on my pinecaster and like it. Im not a super stickler for perfect intonation but the uncompensated original 3 saddle design is a bit fiddly. If I do any mods to this one it would be putting in the Wilde/Lawrence L45 blades for a Springsteen o caster vibe, but only sometime after I get the pine caster back up and running if ever.

I like the classic Tele look of the brass saddles. But, I don’t believe it has any sonic advantage. However, I do like your idea of building a Tele worship altar. :embarrassed:

This is the one I like as a compromise between function, intonation and classic aesthetic...

Funny enough - those are exactly the ones on my Kirn "Tele" (in fact, the whole bridge is Gotoh). And guess what? It sounds like a tele!

Yeah - I don't worship at altar of Our Lady of the three brass saddles either...

Agreed here as well. The six-saddle bridge that I got was this one, albeit almost 30 years ago: https://www.fender.com/en-US/parts/...le-telecaster-bridge-assembly/0990810000.html

Super basic and neither this nor the original packaging clearly state the saddle material, although I suspect they would were it brass. G&L makes a version of this bridge with 6-brass saddles, but then you get into the discussion of how the tone is affected by two strings sharing a saddle and that "connection".

It's funny to think that so much of the "classic" Tele sound that many people aspire to could likely have come from the guitar in this pic...

That's part of the issue with me buying any Tele now is wanting to immediately replace most stock bridges. I like the feel of the ashtray bridge and the aesthetic, but it's far more about the former. I haven't modded a guitar in decades, generally being fine with the specs (being a primary foundation of all my gear purchases). Knowing I can tweak things is fine/cool, but I've yet to buy anything looking at it as a mod platform...at least not yet anyway. That Squier Nashville Stratocaster seems super cool to start and a potentially great mod platform.

Many years ago I went down the mod rabbit hole - replacing hardware, pickups, tuners - you name it. Ultimately however, I was never totally satisfied with the results and ended up unloading the modded guitar - usually at a loss. Nowadays, if I don't like a guitar I just sell it at a loss quickly and avoid the added expense and effort.

I swore that I’d never go down the rabbit hole of modifying guitars ever again. Not even pickup swaps. My vow held for a long time… until I got 2 cheap Gretsch guitars recently. It opened the floodgates.

Now, I’m working on changing electronics and pickups in 3 other guitars. I’m not truly a fan of soldering and I don’t know the first thing about how circuits work. I look at pretty pics online and try to follow them. :embarrassed:
