NGD! I LOVE GOLLLLDDDDD.......

Anyone GASsing over Mark's DGT.... hit me up. I have a flame top one with American knobs, Strap Buttons, and Mann Made drop in locking tuners (no extra holes) that I'd be willing to part with because it doesn't get played after I got my dual humbucker Suhr. It's a killer guitar that punches way above it's price... I just need to pare down how many guitars I have.

If I had the spare cash I'd probably jump on it to have a backup. But Xmas and all... maybe DM how much?

So, I'm incredibly happy with this guitar after a few weeks and a handful of gigs, but the pickup switch is acting flaky, so Sweetwater is sending me a replacement guitar. I hope I like it as much.

I've heard that the consistency of SEs is very high, not just from PRS (who would be obviously biased). Will you have a chance to have both guitars in your hands at the same time? Is so, I'd keep the one that sounded the best and ask if they'd cover the cost of a tech repairing the switch...not that you haven't already of this.

I can't imagine the DGT stays as reasonably priced as it is given the continued accolades.

I'm surprised they didn't just replace the switch.

I know it's sacrilegious to some..... but I've developed a strong hatred to the traditional 3 way toggle with those flappy metal blades inside.

I've been migrating most of my guitars to one that is more like what EBMM uses for the Steve Morse guitar. The switch tip is just as chunky but sits a little deeper into the face of the guitar and is a more satisfying click-click-click in each position. Additionally, the ones I use have like 12 pins so I can wire them to be like a super switch if I want... not just A/Both/B.

You know they make those that also take a regular switch tip?

I've got a few of them. Solid-feeling and you can't tell the difference from the outside.

I like the tip not unscrewing, but if I've got at least one guitar with black hardware so I'll give that a try when I replace that switch.
I'm too OCD with my matching plastics to not have a plastic switch tip... LOL

Congrats.

For the most part PRS don't really float my boat. At least yours doesn't have birdies.

And goldtops are always nice. Mine is also a non-Gibson non-Les Paul.

.... I mean, it's a Suhr with Thornbuckers, but this is the closest I've gotten to playing a traditional guitar in years!!!

I also got a really conservative, neutral colored, Explorer from Sully. :helper:

The replacement came with noisy pots (they cleaned up fine) anxd the input jack for some reason was super tight to the point that it took a day of plugging and unplugging the guitar for it to feel normal. I think I'm fine keeping it but at first I was very unhappy with the way it came out of the box.

This isn't something you have to do (and I'm not really the type either), but you could contact PRS and point out the quality control issues. Similarly, this doesn't say much for the 55-point inspection by Sweetwater...

Both companies might do something for your troubles...or they might not.

Despite the issues, does the replacement sound as good as the original?
