Livestream! Songwriting 101 - Chord Progressions and Substitutions

Very cool. The opening chords reminded me of a song, but then it went in a complete different direction. I love your ability to sit down and just write something without overthinking it or taking too long.
I have never been accused of overthinking a song...

I have very few songs that I have abandoned without recording. I figure some of them are not great, but I let them come to life. There are some that I have never done live as I am not that fond of them, but I am glad I wrote and recorded them. :grin:

I really like that attitude. When I return to trying to write something myself, I will attempt to adopt it.

I come at songwriting with a different frame of reference than many other songwriters that I know. I am never trying to impress, just trying to communicate. I am sure I succeed in not impressing, at least most of the time. :grin:
 
If I could sound out what's in my head you'd be all over it.
Probably not what you heard in your head, but I redid the song with some cello. Same link, different play... :grin:
