EDIT: I've added "chapters" to the video so that you can get to specific parts in the video description. This is the thread to drop your chord progressions if you want to share, collaborate or ask questions!

I'm trying something new this week and starting a free weekly livestreaming class on YouTube. instead of teaching guitar specific stuff I figured I would do something else that close to my heart that will also benefit guitar players and talk about songwriting with a focus on chord progressions. It was also the #1 requested topic from my students and on the forum this month.

From the video description:

We will be working on songwriting this week on our livestream with an emphasis on chord progressions and how to use or substitute in chords borrowed from other scales or modes. If you're a Beatles fan I think you'll especially enjoy this one although the material is relevant for all styles of music. Wednesday, October 21st 2020 5pm

Thank you so much to everyone who hung out - this was hugely fun if a little nerve wracking. :)

I have a new song ready for the studio based on some of what we talked about last night. I started with changing a major chord to a minor and went from there. I'll post it when I get something down on "tape".

Thanks. I am going to try adding another guitar part; I didn't care for the finger picking track I did.

I appreciate Mark's sharing that information last night; it gave me some ideas for doing something different. Thanks Mark!

I like that a lot. Your voice over the minor chords takes on a whole different quality. It works well.
Very cool. The opening chords reminded me of a song, but then it went in a complete different direction. I love your ability to sit down and just write something without overthinking it or taking too long.

Missed it. Had to do another zoom meeting with the local (political party, where I am a precinct chairperson). Hoping to be there next time!
At first I thought it was scheduled at the same time as the presidential debate because I had the day wrong. The video is going to stay up so you can still watch it and the PDF will stay downloadable, too.
