So I'm going to be a buzzkill, but this is the American misunderstanding of karma, and not what it really is. Karma can be better thought of as 'debt.' We obtain debt by our misdeeds, and, according to the various Indian religious that believe in it, in order to reach a higher level of existence, this debt must be shed by performing good deeds.
