Let's do this thing!... Who's up for Baimun's Midwest Guitar Fest?

It looks like I might be able to make it. Finally my chance to consume @smurfco and assume his powers. And the I can remake the universe in my image and rule as God Emperor Peen.

Drat. Can’t make it after all. Have preexisting tix/plans with a tight bro. However, if folks are traveling via Chicago and are free the night before, lemme know and there could be a Chicago pregame complete with a proper Chicago handshake.

Well let me know how early you guys are around Friday morning because I’ll be dropping my wife off at the airport.

so is this like a for sure for sure thing? Am I good to book airfare and what not? And someone remind me what the best airport to fly into would be considering I can't drive due to my eyesight and would have to take some sort of public transport, or carpool with someone

If I were going to arrange a trip via public transit, either airport will work. O’Hare means blue line to a short bus ride or Uber to the South Shore Train line to South Bend. Midway is the orange line to a 10 min walk to the south shore line.

Ohare is a 3 hour 10 minute trip; midway is a 2 hour 45 minute trip. Generally speaking it’s easy to catch the Blue Line at O’Hare and the train goes through nicer parts of the city between O’Hare and the Loop vs the Orange line.

South Bend also has an airport…which I only know because I got diverted there once.

If you want to fly into Indianapolis, I can pick you up at the airport and we can head up together.

I'm driving from St Louis. I can get people around town when in IN.

I plan to bring my Geddy Lee sig Jazz Bass and Tech21 preamp. I want to hear a real bass player play this thing.
I'll bring an electric guitar or two.
I might bring a Taylor Acoustic guitar I'm eyeing at the used music store. I wish it would sell before I break down and buy it.

I am also unable to attend South Bend but if a Friday night Chicago hang materializes I might be down for that.

When I was talking about this to my wife and said that it was from Noon - 10 pm... she was like "Don't you think that's a really long time?"

I said "If people are making travel arrangements and such to be in town for this and I say it's from Noon - 4... we're going to end up hanging out until 10 o'clock anyways." :lmbo:

Hmm, I notice you're an hour and a half north of Sweetwater. I really ought to make the pilgrimage and this might be a good opportunity. Any other cool stuff in the area? I also have a friend in South Bend I could drop in on... Hmm... I could have lunch at Max and Benny's in Northbrook... There are an awful lot of compelling things going on here...

Yep... our warehouse is on the commercial side of town so just businesses and fast food... but easily accessible from the US 20 Bypass loop that starts at 80/90 by the South Bend Airport (where the South Shore train station is), and then surrounds South Bend, Notre Dame, Mishawaka, and Elkhart... then loops back to 80/90 up by the Elkhart RV convention center. There are great places to eat in South Bend, Mishawaka, and Elkhart.... we'll have a couple grills going Saturday... and Sweetwater is reachable by continuing on 80/90 and then taking 69 south to Fort Wayne... or you can take the back roads through all those small towns and Amish land. :baimun:

Hey Smurfco and anyone else who needs a lift around town tell me what hotel you are choosing. I don't have a preference.

Also everyone bring some stuff to swap. I have a bunch of guitar pedals and other assorted equipment I would love to see get used by someone.

Also @smurfco do you have CD versions of your albums? I would be a buyer for sure!

I have CDs of the first two Bird Index albums, and CDs (and vinyl) of the third Used For Comparison album. You can have copies for free, I'd say we vastly overestimated demand for these and I still have boxes of them taking up space.
