Hot or Not: I'm fixin' to become a tar heel, y'all

This is something, @yabba . I could fit the Saturday bill into my schedule, possibly.

Yesterday I got a long-awaited formal offer for a job in North Cackalack! (said with love, if that's a slur coming from a northerner please let me know)

It's a bit of a pay cut from my current gig, but is much closer to family (but not tooooo close) - mom and pops are getting up in years and I do like spending time with them. It's also much more of a better fit with what I've discovered I like, teaching-wise (lotsa first-gen students, mostly from underserved communities; fewer rich white kids). Significantly lower cost of living will mostly offset the pay cut anyway. I will genuinely, non-sarcastically miss winter, but am looking forward to more green space.

I think there are some North Carolinian weiners - tell me about your fair state and fill me with excitement or dread!

(actual move won't be until some as-yet-undetermined time early summer)
Granted I haven’t read all the replies. To what city are you moving?

Still looking for temporary rental housing, so exact city/town isn't decided yet, but somewhere in or between the triangle formed by Laurinburg/Lumberton/Fayetteville

(So basically SE-ish, likely fairly out in the sticks)

Gotcha. Well, that's the part of the state that I know the least. I'm from Winston, and have also lived in Chapel Hill, Durham, and Asheville. I spend a lot of time on the extreme southern coast as well, but overall it's a cool spot to live. I hope you have a good move and settle in well! You'll need to learn your bbq. :)

Thanks! Both my parents and my brother/sister-in-law are up near Asheville, which was one of the reasons for the move.
